Description

EXOS Pediatric Short Arm Fracture Brace (Open Thumb) with BOA Dial

The smallest patients can benefit from EXOS® technology: a reformable, water-resistant, radiolucent pediatric wrist/forearm fracture brace that can be heat-molded for a custom fit. The open-thumb design helps maintain comfort and function while providing uniform support.

Quick Highlights

  • Thermoformable (heat-moldable) for a more custom fit
  • Water-resistant (daily activities like showering are easier than a traditional cast)
  • Radiolucent (often does not need removal for X-ray imaging)
  • BOA micro-adjustable dial for easy tightening/loosening
  • Left or Right options, multiple colors
  • Latex-free

Sizing & How to Measure

Important sizing note: braces use size ranges, not an exact “shoe-like” fit. If you measure near the top of a range, the brace will feel closer/tighter; if you measure near the bottom of a range, it will feel roomier. Upsize if you are between sizes or prefer a looser fit (it can be molded for comfort).

  1. Wrap a soft tape measure loosely around the hand (per the measuring diagram) to get circumference.
  2. Compare your measurement to the chart below.
  3. If you are between sizes, choose the larger size.

Brace Size Hand Circumference Brace Length
3XS 5¾" to < 6½" 6"
2XS 6½" to < 7½" 7"
1XS 6½" to < 7¼" 8"

Tip: If swelling is expected, a slightly roomier fit is often more comfortable. The brace can be molded by a clinician for better contour.

Important: This brace is intended to be fitted and re-molded by trained medical professionals. Heating/molding outside medical guidance may affect fit, safety, and warranty coverage. Many people have successfully heated these items on their own, but we cannot cover this under warranty if it is not done by a trained medical professional.

Clinician heating notes (manufacturer guidance):
  • Heat to 200°F (93°C) for ~3–4 minutes (until pliable, not too hot to handle).
  • Do not fully tighten BOA until brace returns to room temperature (helps prevent indentations).
  • Do not overtighten—excessive pressure can irritate skin.
