OrthoTape OrthoH2O is a hypoallergenic, thick synthetic waterproof cast stockinette material that offers extraordinary comfort to patients. Manufactured from Aerosliver yarn, it’s skin-irritation-free and water-repellent. The Quick-Wick Technology allows exposure to wet conditions, and its circular-knitted fiber drains water effortlessly. OrthoH2O Under-Pad contains silver (Ag), an antimicrobial ion that helps prevent bacterial growth and infections. With OrthoH2O, patients can shower, bathe, and participate in water-related activities without covering their casts. The antimicrobial fabric blend ensures fast drying and prevents skin irritation and unpleasant odors.

Superior Comfort — OrthoTape OrthoH2O Under-Pad is soft and flexible. It acts as an excellent protective pad between skin and casting tape. The unique fabric blend also allows the skin to breathe beneath the hard cast to help reduce odor and discomfort.
Casting Tape Included — The casting tape comes free with all our OrthoH2O cast kits vs Delta Dry and AquaCast where the casting tape is an additional fee. You can always use the doctor’s cast tape as well.

How to Apply Your Waterproof Cast — Quick Tips
OrthoH2O is a water-resistant cast tubular stockinette designed to be slipped onto the limb and doubled up for thickness.
Be sure to provide your doctor with the video instructions above so they know how to properly apply your waterproof cast correctly.
Never use any other materials than what is provided with this kit.
Promise your doctor that you will be compliant in taking care of your waterproof cast and properly drying the cast after each time it gets wet.
A simple hair dryer on a low setting can help the cast dry in 30 minutes or less.
Use a similar application as seen below for the leg by doubling up the stockinette.
Remember, the Stockinette is doubled up so that it is the proper thickness.

OrthoTape OrthoH2O Under-Pad is a tubular bandage and does not require additional padding. To use, simply slip it over the patient’s extremity, double it up, and apply OrthoTape Casting tape for a strong, durable, and comfortable cast. Casting tape comes free with your kit!

Make sure the doctor or technician knows how to apply the cast from the video instructions provided on this site. Note: A waterproof cast is an alternative to traditional casting materials that cannot get wet. If a traditional cast gets wet, it is ruined and must be removed immediately. However, this does not mean that you can get your waterproof cast wet all day long and not allow a drying period. We recommend that you allow a drying period between wetting times such as bathing or swimming. A hairdryer on a low setting can speed up the process, but body heat needs to evaporate the remaining damp water inside the cast. Never apply fiberglass cast tape directly to the skin.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between OrthoH2O, AquaCast, and Delta Dry? The three main differences are:
OrthoH2O — easy one-piece design with more breathability; does not pool water at the elbow or heel of the foot. Casting tape is included.
AquaCast — has been around for a while; many doctors are familiar with it.
Delta Dry — lightweight material that dries fast and is easy to apply.
Will my doctor put this on for me? It usually depends on the doctor. Some prefer traditional casts; others are happy to apply a waterproof cast. Ask around — let your doctor know you will be compliant with all instructions. If you find a doctor willing to work with you, let us know — we are compiling a list to share with others.
Why don’t doctors already carry this item? It may be that they need to become more familiar with it, or it could be due to office inventory space. Many insurances do not cover it, so it is an out-of-pocket cost. You can always bring it to your appointment or have us ship it directly to their office.
How long does it take to dry and do I use soap to clean it? The cast can dry to touch in as little as 30–60 minutes. It should be completely dry in under 12–24 hours. Give yourself one day’s rest between wet periods. To dry faster, use a hair dryer on a low setting. To clean, use gentle soap. If odor develops, soak in a mixture of 1 cup hydrogen peroxide per 1 gallon of water plus 1/3 cup rubbing alcohol.

Can you swim in salt water or chlorine with the cast? Yes. The cast is designed to handle both salt water and chlorine. Always flush with clean water afterward.
What comes with the waterproof cast kit? OrthoTape OrthoH2O waterproof padding kits come with a tubular stockinette that is put on first. The casting tape (the hard shell) is also included — remember to choose a color for your tape.
These guys are great. I bought the brace for this set just over a year ago and it’s definitely been a life saver more than once. The zelcro on the brace and the heat shrink around the padding is what has worn down. These guys always ship fast and process quickly.
Good fit. It comes with customizable inner sole to conform to the position of my ulcer. Hence I can create a pocket to keep the foot pressure off the ulcer itself.
The rear strap was too long and had to be shortened. The velcro patch is a little short.
