Description

Aircast AirLift PTTD Stirrup Ankle Brace for Arch and Flat Foot Support

The Aircast AirLift PTTD Stirrup Ankle Brace is a side-specific ankle and arch support designed for people managing posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, also called posterior tibialis tendon dysfunction, and adult acquired flatfoot. Its adjustable aircell helps lift and support the foot arch while the anatomically shaped stirrup shells provide medial and lateral ankle support.

A medial cross-strap, easy rear step-in opening, and integrated inflation system allow the support level and fit to be adjusted without the time-consuming lacing associated with many traditional ankle braces.

Important: This brace is sold individually, not as a pair. Select the correct Left or Right side and the appropriate shoe-size range before ordering.

AirLift PTTD Stirrup Ankle Brace Features and Benefits

  • Adjustable arch aircell: Inflates to help lift the arch toward a more natural and supported position.
  • Integrated inflation system: Allows the support level to be adjusted for individual arch shape, height, and comfort.
  • Medial cross-strap: Pulls upward beneath the arch for additional support and stability.
  • Anatomically shaped stirrup shells: Provide structured medial and lateral ankle support.
  • Rear step-in design: Makes the brace easier to put on without complicated lacing.
  • Two-strap closure: Provides an adjustable, secure fit around the ankle and lower leg.
  • Side-specific construction: Available in separate Left and Right models for proper anatomical positioning.

What Is the Aircast AirLift PTTD Brace Used For?

The AirLift PTTD Brace is designed to support patients managing:

  • Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, or PTTD
  • Posterior tibialis tendon pain or weakness
  • Adult acquired flatfoot or a collapsing foot arch
  • Foot and ankle instability associated with PTTD
  • Post-operative rehabilitation when directed by a medical provider

The AirLift is an off-the-shelf brace and does not require custom molding. The inflatable aircell and adjustable straps allow the fit to be personalized within the selected shoe-size range.

How the AirLift PTTD Stirrup Brace Supports the Foot

The posterior tibial tendon helps support the inside arch of the foot. When the tendon becomes weakened, irritated, or injured, the arch may become painful or begin to flatten. The AirLift places an adjustable aircell under the arch while the medial cross-strap applies upward support. The stirrup shells help stabilize the ankle from the inside and outside.

Unlike a basic ankle stirrup brace that primarily limits side-to-side ankle movement, the AirLift PTTD stirrup brace also uses an inflatable aircell and medial cross-strap to provide adjustable support beneath the foot arch.

Aircast AirLift PTTD Brace Size Chart

How to Apply the Aircast AirLift PTTD Brace

  1. Put on a clean, comfortable sock and fully open both brace straps.
  2. Insert the foot through the rear opening and seat the heel completely in the brace.
  3. Pull the anatomically shaped stirrup shells upward and position them along the inside and outside of the ankle.
  4. Secure the lower ankle strap so the brace is snug but does not restrict circulation.
  5. Pull the medial cross-strap beneath the arch, wrap it around the ankle, and secure it comfortably.
  6. Adjust the integrated inflation system until the aircell provides comfortable arch support. Do not overinflate.
  7. Place the supported foot into a lace-up athletic or walking shoe, walk a few steps, and readjust the straps or inflation if necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

What conditions is the Aircast AirLift PTTD Brace designed for?

It is designed to provide support for posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, posterior tibialis tendon weakness, adult acquired flatfoot, and post-operative rehabilitation when recommended by a medical provider.

How is this different from a standard ankle stirrup brace?

A standard ankle stirrup brace primarily supports the inside and outside of the ankle. The AirLift PTTD stirrup brace also includes an adjustable aircell and medial cross-strap that provide support beneath the foot arch.

How do I choose the correct AirLift PTTD Brace size?

Choose the size according to your normal U.S. men's or women's shoe size. Small fits men up to size 7 and women up to 8.5. Medium fits men 7–11 and women 9–12.5. Large fits men 11.5 and larger and women 13 and larger.

Do I need a Left or Right AirLift PTTD Brace?

Yes. The brace is anatomically shaped and side-specific. Select Left for the left foot or Right for the right foot. The two sides are not interchangeable.

Can the AirLift PTTD Brace be worn inside a shoe?

Yes. It is designed to be used with a lace-up athletic or walking shoe. Because the brace adds some volume, you may need to loosen the laces, remove or adjust the shoe insert, or use a roomier shoe.

How much should I inflate the AirLift aircell?

Inflate it only until the arch feels comfortably supported. The brace should be snug without creating excessive pressure, numbness, tingling, discoloration, or increased pain.

Is the Aircast AirLift PTTD Brace sold as a pair?

No. Each order includes one brace for the selected size and side.

How should I clean the AirLift PTTD Brace?

Hand wash it with mild detergent, rinse with clean water, and allow it to air dry completely. Do not machine wash, machine dry, bleach, or apply direct heat.
