Description

DeSoutter 19640 — Titanium Nitride Full Round Cast Saw Blade (Single)

The DeSoutter 19640 is a 64mm full round Titanium Nitride coated replacement cast saw blade for the DeSoutter CleanCast CC7 and CC8 systems, sold as a single blade. The gold TiN coating delivers approximately three times the hardness of uncoated stainless steel — providing longer blade life, cooler cutting temperatures, and smoother cast removal for plaster and polyester casts.

🔬 Titanium Nitride Coating — What You Need to Know

  • ✅ ~3x harder than uncoated stainless steel — significantly longer blade life
  • ✅ Reduced friction means cooler cutting temperatures and greater patient comfort
  • ✅ Gold PVD ceramic coating bonds tightly to the steel base
  • ✅ Excellent performance on Plaster of Paris (Gypsona) and Polyester casts
  • ✅ 5-position rotatable mount — rotate to a fresh cutting edge to extend blade life further
  • ⚠️ Not recommended for Fiberglass — for fiberglass, use the Ion Nitride blades (20280 or 20240)

🔵 Round vs. Segmented Blades — Which Do You Need?

Blade Style How It Cuts Best For Available Sizes
Full Round (This Blade) Continuous circular cutting edge Standard cast removal; plaster and polyester casts 64mm
Segmented Cut-out segments reduce heat, more aggressive cutting Fiberglass; high-volume practices; faster removal 32mm, 40mm, 64mm, 80mm

📊 CC7/CC8 Blade Coating Comparison

Rank Coating Best For
#1 Ion Nitride All cast types including fiberglass; maximum durability
#2 Zirconium Nitride (ZrN) Plaster and polyester; superior blade life vs. TiN
#3 ⭐ You are here Titanium Nitride (TiN) Plaster and polyester; moderate-to-high volume; not for fiberglass
#4 PTFE (Teflon) Lower-volume practices; budget-conscious clinics

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the DeSoutter 19640 round blade and the 19680 segmented blade?

Both are 64mm TiN-coated blades for the CC7/CC8. The 19640 is a full round blade with a continuous cutting edge — preferred for standard plaster and polyester cast removal where a smooth, controlled cut is desired. The 19680 is segmented, with cut-out sections that reduce heat and cut more aggressively, preferred for harder materials and high-volume practices.

Can the DeSoutter 19640 cut fiberglass casts?

No. The 19640 TiN blade is not recommended for fiberglass casts. For fiberglass, use the Ion Nitride blade (part number 20280 for 64mm segmented or 20240 for 64mm round).

What is the difference between Titanium Nitride (TiN) and Zirconium Nitride (ZrN) round blades?

Zirconium Nitride (ZrN) is approximately 50% harder than Titanium Nitride (TiN), delivering longer blade life per blade. For high-volume practices wanting maximum blade life on plaster and polyester, the ZrN round blade (19660 for 64mm 5-pack) is the upgrade path.

What does the 5-position rotatable mount mean?

The 19640 blade features a 5-position rotatable mount, meaning you can rotate the blade to a fresh cutting edge up to 5 times before replacing it. This significantly extends the usable life of each blade.

Is the DeSoutter 19640 compatible with the CC4, CC5, or CC6 cast saws?

No. The 19640 is designed exclusively for the DeSoutter CC7 CleanCast and CC8 systems. For CC4/CC5/CC6 blades, see our dedicated CC4/CC5/CC6 blade collection.
