Ion Nitride treatment ranks among the most advanced blade technologies available — delivering near-diamond surface hardness, exceptional longevity, and compatibility with all major cast materials including fiberglass, plaster, and polyester.
Ion Nitriding — also called plasma nitriding — is a high-tech surface hardening process that is fundamentally different from standard blade coatings. Rather than applying a layer on top of the steel, Ion Nitriding diffuses nitrogen ions directly into the blade's surface using electron bombardment in a vacuum vessel under high voltage.
