Long Arm Cast Kit (LAC) — Complete Full Arm Cast for Broken Humerus, Elbow & Forearm Fractures
The OrthoTape Long Arm Cast kit is a complete, professional-grade solution for upper arm and elbow immobilization. Whether you need a cast for a broken humerus, an elbow fracture, or a radius/ulna injury, this full arm cast kit has every component pre-selected and sized — fiberglass tape, cast padding, stockinette, and gloves — ready for your next cast application or midterm cast change. 16+ color choices.
🎨 Why Buy Direct from OrthoTape?
Most doctor's offices stock only 2–3 basic cast colors because they don't want to manage large inventories. That means you're often stuck with white or beige — for a cast you'll wear for weeks. OrthoTape offers 16+ colors at a fraction of what clinics charge. Same professional-grade materials. Your color. Your choice. Many patients bring their OrthoTape kit to their appointment — doctors are happy to use it. You can also purchase this kit for your midterm cast change and save significantly on the materials cost.

🦴 Common Uses — When Is a Long Arm Cast Needed?
A long arm cast (also called a full arm cast) immobilizes the elbow joint along with the forearm and wrist. It is most commonly prescribed for:
Broken humerus (upper arm bone fracture) — the most common reason for a long arm cast
Radius and ulna fractures requiring elbow immobilization
Post-operative immobilization after elbow or upper arm surgery
Severe sprains requiring extended immobilization of the elbow
Pediatric supracondylar fractures
🛒 How to Order Your Long Arm Cast Kit
Choose Patient Size & Stockinette Color — Select the stockinette size and color for your patient:
• Teen – Adult — 3" stockinette in White or Black
• Child (Ages 5–12) — 2" stockinette in White or Black
Choose Cast Tape Color — Pick from 16+ fiberglass cast tape colors.
⚠️ Important: Do not open the fiberglass cast tape until you are fully prepared and ready to apply. Once the package is opened, the tape will begin to cure on contact with air and moisture and will solidify quickly.

💬 Frequently Asked Questions
What is a long arm cast and when is it used?
A long arm cast (also called a full arm cast) immobilizes the elbow, forearm, and wrist in a single rigid cast. It is most commonly used for a broken humerus (upper arm bone), elbow fractures, and forearm fractures where the elbow must be kept still to allow proper healing. The cast typically holds the elbow at a 90-degree angle.
How long do you wear a long arm cast for a broken humerus?
Most patients wear a long arm cast for a broken humerus for 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the severity of the fracture, the patient's age, and the treating physician's protocol. Children often heal faster than adults. Your orthopedic surgeon will monitor healing with X-rays and determine when the cast can be removed or transitioned to a shorter cast or brace.
What is the difference between a long arm cast and a short arm cast?
A long arm cast (full arm cast) extends from the upper arm or just below the shoulder down to the palm, immobilizing the elbow. A short arm cast only covers the forearm and wrist, leaving the elbow free. Long arm casts are required when the elbow joint must be immobilized — such as with humerus fractures, elbow fractures, or certain forearm fractures.
Can I bring my own cast kit to my doctor's appointment?
Yes — many patients bring their OrthoTape kit to their appointment. Doctors are generally happy to use patient-supplied materials, and you'll save money on the casting materials portion of your visit. It's best to have your kit in hand 1–2 days before your appointment. Order by 2 PM EST for same-day shipping.
Is this kit FSA or HSA eligible?
Yes. OrthoTape casting supplies are FSA/HSA eligible medical products. HCPCS code A4570 applies to casting supplies. Check with your plan administrator for specific coverage details.

Outstanding service
I just made a large order. This is my third or fourth order and I couldn’t be happier with the product and the service. Great folks to deal with. Don’t hesitate to order from OrthoTape.
Not only can you swim and sweat, but its less itchy!
My son was devistated to break his arm and not be able to go swimming over the summer. But once he was switched from a long cast to a short cast and the doctor said he could have a waterproof one, we were ready with this product. Not only did it save our summer by allowing him to swim, he was also able to clean his cast out in the bath after an especially hot and sweaty soccer practice. However, drying the cast out is a pain in the butt.
But most importantly to me, he complained about being itchy far less and his skin looked completely clean and normal once the cast was removed, other than being pale. When his non-waterproof long cast was removed he had a nasty rash that wasnt medically concerning but made him very itchy and took a few days to clear.
