A cylinder cast immobilizes only the knee joint — it extends from the upper thigh to just above the ankle, leaving the foot free. It is used for patellar fractures, quadriceps tendon repairs, and knee ligament injuries where ankle immobilization is not required. A long leg cast extends all the way to the toes and immobilizes both the knee and ankle. The OrthoTape LLC kit provides enough material for both configurations.
