OrthoH2O Waterproof Cast Liner & Swim Cast Kits
OrthoH2O is a professional-grade waterproof cast liner system that enables clinicians to create a true waterproof fiberglass cast — commonly called a swim cast. Unlike a removable cast cover, OrthoH2O is integrated directly into the cast during application, allowing patients to shower, bathe, and swim throughout their recovery.
The liner is a thick, fishnet-style cylindrical stockinette that slips over the limb before fiberglass cast tape is applied. Water flows through the open mesh and drains freely from both ends — no trapped moisture, no skin breakdown.

Frequently Asked Questions — OrthoH2O Waterproof Cast
Can a patient really swim with an OrthoH2O cast?
Yes — when applied correctly by a clinician, OrthoH2O creates a cast that allows full water exposure. The mesh liner lets water pass through and drain out, preventing moisture buildup that would otherwise soften a traditional cast. Patients should always get clearance from their physician before swimming.
Is OrthoH2O compatible with any fiberglass tape?
Yes. OrthoH2O stockinette works with standard fiberglass casting tape. No proprietary tape is required, making it easy to integrate into existing clinic inventory.
How is OrthoH2O different from a waterproof cast cover?
A cast cover is a removable sleeve placed over an existing cast — it is not truly waterproof and can leak if submerged. OrthoH2O is applied under the fiberglass during casting, making the cast itself waterproof from the inside out. No removal is needed before showering or swimming.
Who can apply an OrthoH2O waterproof cast?
OrthoH2O is a clinical product intended for application by orthopedic technicians, physicians, or trained casting staff. It is not a DIY product. Proper application technique is required to achieve a truly waterproof result.
How is OrthoH2O different from AquaCast and Delta Dry?
OrthoH2O is a one-piece slip-on mesh stockinette — faster to apply than multi-layer systems. AquaCast uses soft pillow-type padding rolls wrapped around the limb. Delta Dry is a two-piece system with a separate stockinette and padding layer. All three create a true waterproof fiberglass cast and are compatible with standard fiberglass tape.
Is a waterproof cast FSA or HSA eligible?
Waterproof cast materials applied by a clinician as part of fracture treatment are generally covered under FSA and HSA accounts when prescribed by a physician. OrthoTape is an authorized distributor of OrthoH2O products. Contact us for HCPCS documentation if needed for reimbursement.
