Drop foot (also called foot drop) is a condition where weakness or paralysis of the muscles that lift the front of the foot makes it difficult or impossible to raise the toes during walking. This causes the foot to drag, increasing fall risk and significantly affecting gait. An AFO (Ankle Foot Orthosis) holds the foot in a dorsiflexed position, allowing a more normal walking pattern.
