📐 Sizing Guide — How to Measure

Measurement Instructions: Wrap a soft tape loosely around the widest part of your hand at the knuckles (exclude the thumb), then match your measurement to the chart below. Upsizing is recommended if you're between sizes or prefer a roomier fit — the most common return reason is ordering too small.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| XXS | 6.5″ – < 7.5″ (16.5 – <19.1 cm) |
6" (15.2 cm) | 221-21-1111 | 221-22-1111 |
| XS | 7.25″ – < 8″ (18.4 – <20.3 cm) |

7.25" (18.4 cm) | 221-41-1111 | 221-42-1111 |
| M | 9″ – < 10″ (22.9 – <25.4 cm) |

Heating & Application (Important)
EXOS is not a conventional pre-shaped ready-to-wear brace. The thermoformable shell is designed to be heated first and then molded around your anatomy. Do not judge the fit before heating.
Once an EXOS brace has been heated, molded, worn, or altered, it is no longer eligible for return. If you are unsure about what you received, contact us before heating.
Important: This brace must be heated to properly mold for best fit. Watch the videos below before fitting.
| Requirement | Manufacturer Specification |
|---|---|
| Ideal Temperature | 200°F (93°C) |
| Maximum Safe Temperature | 212°F (100°C) |
| Heating Time | Approximately 3–5 minutes |
| Working Time | 3–8 minutes before it hardens |
| Heating Method | Convection oven or hair dryer (for small adjustments) |
| ⚠️ Warning | Never use a microwave or high-heat industrial heat guns. |
Important: EXOS braces are intended to be fitted and remolded by trained medical professionals. Heating/molding performed outside medical guidance may affect fit, safety, and warranty coverage. Many have successfully heated these items on their own using a home oven and wrapping the brace in a damp towel, but we cannot cover this under warranty if it is not done by a trained medical professional.
Alternative Home Heating Method — Controlled Water Bath
For users who do not have access to an EXOS oven, OrthoTape has developed a controlled hot-water bath alternative. This is not an Enovis-published protocol and is performed at the user’s own risk. Suggested water temperature: 160°F–170°F (71°C–77°C); do not exceed 180°F (82°C).

Frequently Asked Questions
What injuries is the EXOS Wrist Fracture Brace used for?
The EXOS Wrist Fracture Brace with BOA is commonly prescribed for stable wrist fractures including carpal bone fractures (lunate, pisiform, triquetral), scapholunate dislocations, TFCC tears, radiocarpal ligament injuries, and minimally displaced distal radius or distal styloid fractures. Always follow your provider's prescription.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure the circumference around your knuckles (excluding the thumb) with a soft tape. Match your measurement to the size chart: XXS (6.5–7.5″), XS (7.25–8″), S (8–9″), M (9–10″), L (10–11″), XL (11″+). If between sizes, sizing up is recommended — the most common return reason is ordering too small.
Does it matter if I order left or right?
Yes. This brace is side-specific. Select LEFT or RIGHT to match the injured wrist, along with the correct size.
Does the EXOS brace need to be heated?
Yes. EXOS braces are thermoformable and must be heated to mold properly for best fit and safety. The ideal temperature is 200°F (93°C) for approximately 3–5 minutes. Never use a microwave or high-heat industrial heat guns. Working time after heating is 3–8 minutes. Heating and molding should be performed by a trained medical professional.
Can I get the EXOS wrist brace wet?
Yes. The EXOS brace is water-resistant, allowing patients to shower and perform daily activities. Athletes can remain active as allowed by their provider.
Can I heat the EXOS brace at home without an EXOS oven?
Yes. OrthoTape has developed a controlled hot-water bath alternative for users who do not have access to an EXOS dry-heat oven. The suggested water temperature range is 160°F–170°F (71°C–77°C) — do not exceed 180°F (82°C). This is not an Enovis-published or Enovis-validated water-bath protocol and is performed at the user’s own risk. For full step-by-step instructions, equipment list, safety warnings, and photos, see the EXOS Brace Fitting & Heating Guide.
Does insurance cover this? Can I save vs. my doctor’s office?
This product is HSA/FSA eligible, so you can use pre-tax dollars to purchase it directly. If you have a high DME deductible (common with many insurance plans), you may actually pay less buying here than at your doctor’s office — where the same brace can cost $300–$500 or more. Many clinics also allow you to choose where you purchase your DME items. We recommend checking your plan’s DME deductible before purchasing through your provider.
