Ossur Formfit CAM Walking Boot – Tall High Top | Non-Inflated Fracture & Ankle Boot
The Ossur Formfit Tall CAM Walking Boot (Non-Inflated) is a durable, lightweight controlled ankle motion (CAM) boot designed for the treatment of ankle fractures, sprains, and post-operative rehabilitation. The tall high-top design provides extended support above the ankle for conditions requiring greater immobilization. This is the non-inflated version — no air bladder or pump required. For enhanced pneumatic compression and edema control, see the Formfit Air Tall (with Air).
Non-Inflated vs. Air (Pneumatic) — Which should I choose?
- This boot (Non-Inflated) — Standard foam liner, no pump needed. Simpler to use, lower cost. Best when pneumatic compression is not required or prescribed.
- Formfit Air Tall (with Air) — Integrated pneumatic bladder for adjustable compression. Helps manage swelling and improves fit. Preferred when edema control is a clinical priority.
Size Chart & Fit Guide
Universal fit — fits left or right foot.
⚠️ Important: These Boots Fit a Size Range — Not a Single Shoe Size
CAM walking boots are designed to accommodate a range of shoe sizes — not a single perfect fit. This is intentional: the extra room allows for bandaging, swelling, post-surgical dressings, and thick socks that are common during recovery.
Because each size covers a range, you may find your shoe size listed on two adjacent sizes. For example, a woman's size 10 appears in both Medium (Women's 8–10) and Large (Women's 10–12). This means you have a choice:
- Choose the smaller size if your foot is at the top of the range — your toes will sit near the front edge of the boot. This gives a snugger fit and is often preferred when swelling is minimal.
- Choose the larger size if you have significant swelling, thick bandaging, or a cast underneath — your foot will have more room, but the boot will feel roomier around the foot.
When in doubt, go up a size if swelling or dressings are present. Your clinician can help determine the best fit for your specific condition.
Method 1 — Size by Shoe Size
| Size | Men's Shoe Size | Women's Shoe Size | Part Number |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Small | 3 – 5 | 4 – 6 | W0200BLK |
| Small | 5 – 7 | 6 – 8 | W0400BLK |
| Medium | 7 – 9 | 8 – 10 | W0600BLK |
| Large | 9 – 11 | 10 – 12 | W0800BLK |
| X-Large | 11 – 13 | 12+ | W1000BLK |
📏 Method 2 — Measure Your Foot Length (Most Accurate)
Shoe sizes vary by brand and can be unreliable — especially when swelling or bandaging is involved. Measuring your actual foot length in inches gives you the most accurate size.
- Place a blank piece of paper on a hard floor.
- Stand on the paper with your heel touching a wall (or draw a line at your heel).
- Mark the tip of your longest toe.
- Measure the distance from the heel line to the toe mark in inches.
- Use the table below to find your boot size.
Tip: If you have swelling, thick bandaging, or a cast sock, add ¼"–½" to your measurement and size up accordingly.
Ossur Formfit — Internal Foot Length by Size
| Size | Foot Length (inches) | Foot Length (cm) | Men's Shoe | Women's Shoe | Part Number |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| X-Small | 7.5 – 8.5" | (19.0 – 21.5 cm) | 3 – 5 | 4 – 6 | W0200BLK |
| Small | 8.5 – 9.5" | (21.5 – 24.0 cm) | 5 – 7 | 6 – 8 | W0400BLK |
| Medium | 9.5 – 10.5" | (24.0 – 26.5 cm) | 7 – 9 | 8 – 10 | W0600BLK |
| Large | 10.5 – 11.5" | (26.5 – 29.2 cm) | 9 – 11 | 10 – 12 | W0800BLK |
| X-Large | 11.5 – 13.0" | (29.2 – 33.0 cm) | 11 – 13 | 12+ | W1000BLK |
* Foot length measurements are approximate internal boot dimensions. When your measurement falls at the boundary between two sizes, consider swelling and dressing thickness when choosing.
