The DeRoyal Tracker EX CAM Walker Boot is an advanced, lightweight, non-pneumatic (non-inflated) medical fracture boot engineered to deliver exceptional comfort, stability, and support throughout recovery. Key Features & Benefits

Wide Footplate Design — accommodates swelling and edema while providing superior stability throughout recovery
Closed-Heel Design — prevents heel migration and slippage, ensuring consistent positioning and optimal immobilization
Extra-Long Wrap System — full coverage and customizable compression; adjusts as swelling decreases during healing
Dual Height Options — available in Standard (Tall) and Short (Low-Top) to match specific injury location and support requirements

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose the Standard (Tall) or Short boot?
Always follow your doctor's recommendation. As a general guide: the Standard (Tall) boot is best for ankle fractures, high ankle sprains, and Achilles tendon injuries that need full lower leg support. The Short (Low-Top) boot is better suited for foot fractures, forefoot injuries, and conditions where you need more calf freedom. When in doubt, the Standard (Tall) is the most commonly prescribed option.
What is a non-pneumatic CAM walker boot and how is it different from a pneumatic boot?
A non-pneumatic (non-inflated) CAM walker boot uses a structured shell and wrap system to immobilize the foot and ankle — no air pump or inflatable bladder is required. A pneumatic boot, by contrast, uses an air bladder that you inflate to customize compression around the ankle. Non-pneumatic boots like the DeRoyal Tracker EX are simpler to use, lighter weight, and ready to wear immediately. They are commonly prescribed for stable fractures, ankle sprains, and post-operative recovery where consistent immobilization is the priority over adjustable compression.
What is a CAM walker boot and how does it work?
A CAM (Controlled Ankle Motion) walker boot is a removable orthopedic device that immobilizes the foot and ankle to protect injured bones, ligaments, and tendons during healing. The rocker-style sole allows a more natural walking gait while keeping the ankle stable. Unlike a plaster cast, a CAM boot can be removed for bathing and physical therapy as directed by your clinician.
How long do I need to wear a CAM walker boot after a fracture?
Wear duration depends on the type and severity of your fracture. Most stable foot and ankle fractures require 4–8 weeks in a CAM walker boot. Your orthopedic surgeon or podiatrist will monitor healing via X-ray and advise when it is safe to transition out of the boot. Never discontinue use without medical clearance.
Is this boot covered by insurance?
Many insurance plans cover CAM walker boots under HCPCS code L4360. Contact your insurance provider to verify your specific coverage and any prior authorization requirements. OrthoTape.com does not bill insurance directly.
*This product should be used under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional. Always consult with your physician, orthopedic specialist, or physical therapist regarding proper use, fit, duration of wear, and weight-bearing status for your specific condition. Do not use if you have circulatory problems or loss of sensation in the affected limb without medical supervision.
I am generally satisfied with the boot, but the two straps on the toe of the boot are a bit of a problem. The very small Velcro strip that attaches the buckle to the shell for these 2 is a problem, easily comes loose and tricky to reattach. Still trying to sort out the best method!
Fantastic boot! Super comfortable and love the air pump for additional ankle support
Fantastic boot! Super comfortable and love the air pump for additional ankle support. I actually put 20k steps on it the other day doing yard work and felt just fine. Highly recommended!
