Description

DeSoutter 20290 Ion Nitride Segmented Cast Saw Blade | CC7 & CC8 | 80mm | Single Blade

The DeSoutter 20290 is an 80mm segmented Ion Nitride cast saw blade for the CC7 and CC8 systems. The larger 80mm diameter makes it ideal for thick adult casts and long-arm applications where the standard 64mm blade may require more passes. Ion Nitride is the only coating recommended for fiberglass casts. The segmented design reduces heat buildup for improved patient comfort. Standard blade supplied with CC7 and CC8. Single blade. For the 64mm segmented version, see the 20280.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the DeSoutter 20290 and the 20280 blade?

The 20290 is an 80mm diameter blade designed for thick adult casts and long-arm applications. The 20280 is a 64mm blade suited for standard adult and pediatric casts. Both feature Ion Nitride coating and a segmented design, making them suitable for fiberglass, plaster, and polyester casts.

Can the DeSoutter 20290 cut fiberglass casts?

Yes. The 20290 Ion Nitride blade is the only DeSoutter coating recommended for fiberglass casts. It also works on plaster of Paris and polyester casts, making it the most versatile blade in the CC7/CC8 lineup.

What is the difference between Ion Nitride and Titanium Nitride (TiN) blades?

Ion Nitride blades like the 20290 are engineered to cut all cast types including fiberglass, plaster, and polyester. Titanium Nitride (TiN) blades such as the 19720 are optimized for plaster and polyester only and are not recommended for fiberglass. For mixed-cast clinical environments, Ion Nitride is the more versatile choice.

Is the 20290 the standard blade that comes with the CC7 and CC8 saws?

Yes. The DeSoutter 20290 80mm Ion Nitride segmented blade is the standard blade supplied with both the CC7 CleanCast and CC8 cast saw systems.

What is the difference between segmented and round cast saw blades?

Segmented blades have gaps cut into the blade edge, which reduces heat buildup and improves cutting speed through dense cast materials. Round (full-circle) blades provide a smoother cut and are often preferred for thinner or more delicate casts. The 20290 segmented design is ideal for thick fiberglass, plaster, and polyester casts.
