Heating & Molding Instructions
- Measure hand circumference — wrap a soft measuring tape loosely around the widest part of the hand (around the knuckles, excluding the thumb).
- Select size and laterality — match measurement to size chart above. If between sizes, size up. Select Left or Right to match the injured hand.
- Heat the brace — place in a convection oven at 200°F (93°C) for approximately 3–5 minutes until pliable. Do not exceed 212°F (100°C). Never use a microwave.
- Mold to the patient's hand — while warm and pliable (working time: 3–8 minutes), position on the patient's hand in the prescribed position. Hold until hardened.
- Secure with straps and BOA dial — fasten hook-and-loop straps across the web space and digits. Use the BOA dial to achieve desired circumferential compression.
- Trim finger section if needed — if directed by the physician, trim the finger section to accommodate the desired range of motion.
